WHAT AWAITS YOU IN ESWATINI?

At just 200km north to south and 130km east to west, Eswatini one of Africa smallest countries but make no mistake, it packs a mighty punch. Over and above the stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife, Swazi people have a deep cultural heritage. So it’s no surprise that one of Africa’s most exciting cultural spectacles, the Umhlanga Reed Dance, takes place here.

Hlane, Mkhaya and Miliwane are Eswatini’s most notable reserve, each with it’s own unique charm. Mkhaya offers visitors one of the best chances to see Black Rhino in the wild while Miliwane on the other hand is Eswatini’s conservation crowning jewel. This region is an ideal add on to a self drive or overland journey combining South African and Mozambique.

Tourism in Eswatini has been earmarked as a priority sector for achieving economic growth. Studies have continuously highlighted the negative environmental and socio-cultural impacts tourism often brings to this region, including commercialisation of cultural activities, social conflicts due to economic welfare as well as biodiversity loss and pollution. The country is also plagued by high HIV rates and unemployment.
